I have a friend who used to dance at one of the local stripper bars. When she was a dancer she would call me once in a while to see if I could go out to eat with her during her break. One night she called and I headed down to pick her up. She was just coming off stage when I arrived so I ordered a beer and sat at the bar waiting for her. I looked around the bar and I noticed four guys who I recognized from the old circuit I belonged to. They were sitting at a table just behind pervert row. I left with my friend and I asked about the four bros. She didn't have much to say about them other then they were not very good tippers. When we got back to the bar I told her to ask the four, "Does Jehovah know you are here?" It didn't happen because they had left.

My new excuse. "I'm not small, I'm getting ready for battle." Which reminds me of this gal who took one look and said, "Who do you think you are going to satisfy with that?" And I said, "Me."
Dang, now you know why I ride a Harley.

Thanks everyone. If I could I would buy all of you a pint...no, make that two or three. I think that the postive thoughts sent my way were very helpful. My first move as the Steelers coach will be to move the team to the NFC. At least they will be conference champs (Super Bowl prediction: Patriots 42 - Eagles 17. Call your bookie.). FInally, I can think of no better way to glorify Jehovah then to hone the talents He gave me to make more money to spend on bikes, babes, and beer.

Had my interview at work this morning. I felt pretty good about it when I walked out of the room. This afternoon the manager offered me the job and I accepted. The new job means a lot more responsibility but the 16 percent raise will come in handy. Stopped for beers on the way home. It was a good day.

You can't play lotto, but you can accept a lottery ticket.
by JH in.
can someone explain to me why a witness can't go and buy a lottery ticket for himself, but can keep a ticket they find on the ground or keep a ticket they receive as a gift from a worldly person.. that's the explaination the witnesses gave me when i joined many years ago.. if it's a sin to play lotto, why can they accept a ticket as a gift or keep one they could find?.

There are all sorts of rules and rationalizations like this. There was a carpenter in the last congregation I attended who was reproved for working on a church parsonage. He had been approached by a member of the church board who also happened to be his banker about making a bid on window replacement. He didn't really want to get involved, but decided that he better because he didn't want to disrespect the banker. He turned in a bid but jacked the prices up so high he figured he didn't stand a chance of getting the job. Well, he did get the job (was Jehovah providing or testing this follower?) and fullfilled the contract. Of course people saw him working on the parsonage (small town) and questions were asked and the elders got involved and he got spanked. Several months later the same parsonage was struck by lightning and needed to be rewired. The local JWs were surprised to see that the electrician doing the work was an elder in the congregation. The electrician elder expained that it was ok for him to do the work as the work was being paid for by the church's insurance company while it was wrong for the carpenter to do work there as he was paid by the church directly. The Pharisee's would have been proud of this explanation.

You didn't mention budget or how much time you have, but a great place to visit for museums and architecture is Washington DC. The Smithsonian, the Capital, the White House, all the memorials and monuments, Arlington...the list is endless. Washington has a great subway system and is easy to get around. The train system is really good in that part of the country if you decide you want to go to Baltimore, Philly or NYC. If you go, contact your Senators and/or Representative offices to get passes or tickets for events that are going on while you are there. Go see how they spend your money.
